INTERNATIONAL JOINT REAL WORK LECTURE PROGRAM (INTERNATIONAL KKNB)

The Joint Real Work Lecture (KKNB) International BKS PTN Barat is an intracurricular activity of Higher Education that combines the dharma of education, research, and community service in one activity. This program is intended so that students can developsoft skillsand to mature personality in order to foster a sense of nationalism, as well as self-confidence in preparation for facing the realities of social life.

In order to improve the international atmosphere in regional level, BKS PTN Barat initiated the “International Joint KKN” activity which can provide an opportunity for PTN in the western region of Indonesia to jointly conduct Real Work Lecture activities. In the implementation of the first International KKNB activity, the Sumatra Institute of Technology was appointed as the host.

The “KKN Bersama Internasional” activity is a real work study activity involving students from PTN in the western region of Indonesia and foreign/international students. This activity is a forum for students to mature their knowledge, hone their leadership, work attitude, work team, and personality as future leaders of the nation while building networking between students, both from within the country and abroad (foreign students).

The theme of the 2025 International Joint KKN is " Developing educotourism villages for climate change mitigation ”. Tourism is one of the potential sources of state income, so its sustainability needs to be maintained so that state income from the tourism sector remains optimal. In line with the theme, the location of the International Joint KKN is an area with high tourism potential in North Sumatra. The implementation of this International KKNB is expected to increase soft skills participating students and the internationalization of each PTN in the West Region.

Goals and Objectives

The objectives of the 2025 International Joint KKN are:

  • Help accelerate and equalize development in the regions
  • Provide an impressive interpretive experience for International KKNB students to increaseabout sensitivity to the political, environmental, and social climate of the tourist destination.
  • Cultivate and improve students' empathy towards society by seeing, knowing, feeling, and experiencing the problems or difficulties faced by society.
  • Generate direct benefits for environmental conservation or preservation for sustainable tourism.
  • Provide students with experience in applying their knowledge to improve community welfare through sustainable tourism.

The targets of the 2025 International Joint KKN are:

1. Students

  • Gain understanding and appreciation of the benefits of science, technology and art for the implementation of development, especially in the tourism sector
  • Deepen the understanding, appreciation, experience and mature the students participating in the International KKNB in solving problems faced at the International KKNB location in a pragmatic and scientific manner.
  • Expanding networking with students from the western region of Indonesia and with students from abroad.
  • Integrating diverse student skills and abilities in implementing development and construction programs.
  • Increasing social awareness.
  • Train students to be able to work together with individuals from various backgrounds, regions, countries, and cultural diversity.

2. Local Government

  • Obtaining objective details of the problems faced by the community.
  • Introducing tourism potential in the area.
  • Get help with ideas and energy in solving local tourism development problems.
  • Encourage potential and innovation among local community members in an effort to meet needs through the use of science and technology, especially in the field of tourism.
  • Improving the economic welfare of people in villages.

3. College

  • Expanding the university network.
  • Improve the reputation of the college.
  • Increasing partnerships to conduct research and community service.
  • Producing graduates who understand community problems and are able to provide pragmatic solutions to problems.
  • Get input in curriculum development in accordance with community dynamics.

Grouping of Participants

Students who have been designated as participants in the 2025 International KKNB will be grouped according to the following provisions:

  • Grouping of students in KKN locations (village/sub-district) is based on a multi-disciplinary concept. Grouping of students also considers the ratio of male and female students.
  • Students are grouped per village/sub-district consisting of 10 students. Each group is led by a Group Leader determined by the Management.
  • The location of KKN varies per sub-district, adjusted to the results of the agreement between the KKN Manager and the local District Government.
  • KKN students are required to live/stay overnight at the location during the KKN.
